Meet Lindsay + The Best Way to Spend Xmas in Ghana

So Christmas is almost here again! I spent a day on the beach at Kokrobite last week and had a great peaceful chat with Lindsay Williams, the lovely, sunny lady from rainy Wales running a beach bar & restaurant - Dizzy Lizzie's.

Lindsay is the heart and soul of the spot. She got started with just two tables and four chairs some four years ago. Nowadays this beach front restaurant has over 80 seats, very well organised bar and kitchen with skilled and friendly staff and two self-contained double rooms for short or long term stay (90GHc per night, extra bed +40GHc). Another two rooms are under construction. Aside building the business, Lindsay and her husband also run their NGO in order to support local children and environmental initiatives e.g. regular beach cleaning days by the beach community.

"It hasn't been easy at all.

There's been a lot of challenges,

but I still tell myself every morning

how lucky I am to be right here."

I asked Lindsay about her future plans. She looked towards the sea, smiling and said:

"I'm going to stay here.

I would like to visit other African countries

at some point too. But I'm going to stay here."

Dizzy Lizzie's is a truly happy place; makes me feel cozy and calm every time. The food is great, there's a wide range of local and continental dishes on the menu. There's drinks, sand, coconut trees and just a few steps to the sea.

You can book this place for private parties and occasions too; I just got to see beautiful photos of a wedding ceremony arranged here a couple of weeks ago... palm branch arches, sea shells and purple flower petals. Oh my! <3

And this is the place to spend Christmas too! There will be great live music, special food and happy celebration starting from Friday 22nd till Tuesday 26th of December. Don't miss this program:

I wish I could join Lindsay & the crew for the holiday season but this year it's my turn to celebrate Christmas in Finland. So Maria, we are waiting for your season's greetings and beachy Xmas photos from Ghana!

Lots of love,

Hanna, who misses Ghana already
